Job Description

Cisco’s Network Admission Control (NAC) is a solution that uses the network infrastructure to enforce security policies on all devices seeking to access network computing resources. NAC minimizes the risks associated with non-compliant devices—regardless of system type, ownership or access methods—resulting in more resilient and secure networks.

The Technical Lead is a member of the Cisco NAC Engineering team whose primary responsibility is to lead the design and development of next generation NAC solutions. We are looking for a bright individual who can take direction and drive results with limited supervision. Extensive experience with Java and Linux is required. An understanding of network management principals and security is also strongly desired. The development team is globally dispersed, so ability to work and communicate effectively with different cultures in different time zones is a must.

Responsibilities include:

* Generate functional/design/test specifications and estimate design and development activities.

* Research, evaluate, and recommend strategic architecture components that will provide a stable, adaptable architecture for growth and change

* Lead development activities and mentor developers

* Work with the QA, support and TME teams to ensure product quality and complete product adoption.

* Facilitate creation and refinement of processes including: design and development methodology and process, build and release process.

* Gather and review project metrics and identify patterns

Experience:

* 7+ years of system software design & development on Java and Linux Platforms

* Experience in high availability design & implementation

* Experience with TCP/IP networking, access switching & 802.11 wireless

Skills

Programming:
* Excellent knowledge of Java including Core Java, J2EE (JSP, Servlets, EJB), JMS
* Past experience with C/C++
* Good knowledge of scripting languages like Perl, Python, Beanshell
* Good knowledge of building web applications - Struts, AJAX, Flex, HTML and JavaScript
* Good knowledge of building web services, SOAP, UDDI
* XML, XSLT, Xquery, XPATH

Soft Skills:
* Ability to take ownership and leadership
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of engineering and business partners; able to sell recommendations
* Comfortable with ambiguity; able to define alternatives to progress toward vision

Minimum Qualifications:
* BSEE/CS or equivalent with 7+ years relevant experience in internetworking technologies and applications.
