Virgin Mobile Appoints New CEO
Madhusudan Mandyam has been appointed chief executive officer of Virgin Mobile India.
Agencyfaqs notes that at Virgin Mobile, Mandyam will be responsible for providing strategic direction and operational focus. He will also drive partnerships and strategic alliances for Virgin Mobile.
Madhusudan Mandyam Mandyam says, “I am very happy about joining Virgin Mobile India as it unites the passion of two business groups, Virgin and Tata, to deliver a more tailored, more relevant offering for a single distinct segment, the youth, in India.”
Mandyam thinks that Virgin Mobile can capture 10% of the market given. That might be possible given their fresh, interactive communication and innovative schemes. For now Virgin Mobile is not going to offer data, and youngsters in this country will slowly start having more data needs (remember most youngsters have fancy phones). It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
In an official communiqué, Sir Richard Branson, chairman and founder, Virgin Group, said, “Madhusudan brings with him a wealth of experience by virtue of his association with some leading companies and products with global reach. I am confident he will steer the Virgin Mobile India team in the right direction as we spread our wings and carve our rightful position in the Indian telecommunication market.”
